Users may not be accustomed to Nissan's new electric car to change the brake design

There may be some changes in the driving style of electric vehicles.

On September 5th this year, the Nissan Leaf, which is a well-selling electric vehicle in the world, is the new type of Kaichen Morrowind that will be produced by domestic joint venture OEMs. Changes in performance and configuration will also be introduced. It is the largest, longer cruising range and new parking assistance system in the past 7 years.

One of the changes on the brake pedal may change the driver's driving habits, especially for the foot brake pedal.

On Wednesday, Nissan announced a new pedal design e-Pedal used on the new Nissan Leaf. In simple terms, the original accelerator pedal will take into account acceleration, deceleration, and braking. Nissan has designed a button on the side of the shift lever to activate the e-Pedal function.

When acceleration is needed, the driver only has to press the pedal. When the driver gradually releases the pedal, the car will slow down. When the foot is completely out of the pedal, it will achieve the effect of braking. According to Nissan, even in the case of a sloped road, the brakes can be stopped in this way, and no slipping phenomenon will occur.

Behind the brake principle of the electric car. When the electric vehicle is decelerating, the motor provides a reversed force, and it also functions as a power generator during the braking process, recovering some of the energy and transmitting it back to the battery. This is different from the traditional gasoline car.

However, Nissan's design is not as radical as it seems. Nissan retained the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal on the upcoming new concert wind, but when the e-Pedal function was activated, the brake pedal was used only for emergency situations such as emergency braking, as a last resort.

This seems to be a change in driver's driving habits. After all, as in the situation where the distance between the front and rear vehicles is relatively short, the driver needs to put his foot on the brake pedal to deal with the emergency. However, Nissan's e-Pedal function will have a lot of influence on this, and it is hard for drivers to get used to this function.

The Nissan Leaf is the best-selling electric vehicle currently sold. It sold 250,000 vehicles as of September 2016. However, the new models launched in September this year, according to the performance and configuration announced by Nissan, are much higher than the previous version, for example, life is expected to reach 350-400km, as well as the new parking aid system Propilot Park.
